Имеет место, когда дилер по акциям или биржевым товарам заключил сделок на продажу в больших объемах, чем имеет в наличии. Всемирный банк определяет данное понятие следующим образом:

1) в отношении ценных бумаг: продажа Всемирным банком ценной бумаги, не имеющейся в наличии на момент сделки;

2) в отношении фьючерсов и опционов: продажа Всемирным банком любого из подобного рода контрактов, срок которого не истек.
